Diary of a Soccer Star

This is a series about a boy named Markus Atkinson whose father insists that he try out different sports until he finds the one he is good at. His father is the author of inspirational self-help books. These books are written from Markus’ perspective. The first one is based on Markus’ adventures playing soccer, where he not only falls over the ball, but scores An own goal with his butt. In the cricket book, there are references to BBW (Butt Before Wicket). My brother really loved reading this series, since it was exactly his kind of humour. I also read some of the books and found them funny. They do have some crude jokes but are great for reluctant readers and fun for kids aged 6-9 years to read.
