Dystopian/Sci-Fi

Maze Runner

James Dashner

This series had me hooked for the first book and lost me by the third. The first book was interesting and started with a boy named Thomas suddenly appearing in a massive stone maze with no memory of his past life, learning that a group of boys are also trapped in this maze. In the first book, the maze doors open for good, and the boys are all at the risk of getting eaten or killed by the monsters in the maze. The first book in this series was incredible, but the rest of the series was not as good. After the second book, I had majorly lost interest that the first book built up. I would recommend this series, and this book is good for people who loved the Hunger Games but also want sci-fi elements.

This series has many violent and gory scenes with the boys dealing with betrayal and a zombie apocalypse. Not for people with light stomachs, but it is the perfect zombie apocalypse meets adventure story.
