^I think The Night Diary is one of the best books written for children my age by an Indian author. It is told from the perspective of a young girl, Nisha, who is writing to her deceased mother. Nisha lives a good life until she learns that her home is now a part of Pakistan. Being a Hindu family, Nisha and her family must leave Pakistan and journey to modern-day India. I liked this book because it is different from everything else I have read.
