^This series is about a boy named Cruz who gets selected to go to the prestigious Explorer Academy, where his mom was a researcher before she died in a lab accident. When Cruz gets to the academy, he soon realises that what his mom was researching could change the world and was the reason she was killed.

He soon makes friends but is betrayed several times by people who were spying for Nebula, a pharmaceutical company. My favourite was the sixth book, The Dragons Blood. Cruz's mother had written the formula for her cure in a cipher and had hidden the pieces around the world. So far, all the books are part of Cruz's quest to find the clues.

I found this book quite interesting as I learnt many new things. You learn new facts about nature and science, like details about animals, insects, and even plant life. The sixth book also starts to make you see the story in another way, which the first 5 books do not. You start to see some things from the perspective of Nebula, though I couldn't tell whether Nebula was lying or not. It also made me question things I would usually not think twice about, for instance, why Cruz's mother destroyed all evidence of her discovery but the cipher. The book left me with many questions, which I suppose will be answered as the series continues.
