Aru Shah and the End of Time

Roshani Choks

TThis is the story of a girl named Aru Shah who finds out that she is the reincarnation of the Hindu mythological figure, Pandava Arjun and that she carries his soul. She accidentally sends all the mortals in her city to sleep when she lights a lamp that used to belong to the Sleeper. Aru meets her soul sister, Minni, the reincarnation of Yudhistira, and the two of them go to meet the council, who instructs them that if they cannot stop the Sleeper from rising in time, their families will be asleep forever.

This is a series of 5 books, and my favourite was the fifth one which is also the last one of the series. It focuses on the bonds between Aru and her soul sisters. Aru's father is a man known as the Sleeper, and he wants to find the Nectar of Immortality and reshape the world. This book highlights the themes of family and mythology. I would recommend this series to anyone between the ages of 11-13.
