Everyone must know about the first man on the moon, but very few know what got him there. Three excellent mathematicians did the calculations that kept astronauts safe. These mathematicians were called "computers" and were super smart African American women who worked at NASA. They were not allowed to eat in the cafeteria at the same time as their white colleagues; they couldn't use the same restroom facilities and got paid less. Despite this discrimination, they made extraordinary breakthroughs in mathematics and science. I feel like this story should be told every child and that this story will live on forever.
